President Mahmoud Abbas vowed to prosecute war criminals who caused the killing of innocent Palestinian women, children and elderly people during Israel’s onslaught against the Gaza Strip last year. The Israeli “Cast Lead” operation caused the killing of more than 1400 Palestinians and the destruction of more than 5000 Palestinian homes causing the homelessness of more than 20.000 Palestinian citizens. During its three weeks war launched on December 28, 2008 the Israeli war machine used excessive force and white phosphor bombs against civilian areas. In his statements on December 27, 2009 President Mahmoud Abbas vowed to prosecute war criminals who caused the killing of innocent Palestinian women, children and elderly people during Israel’s onslaught against the Gaza Strip last year.
President Abbas renewed his commitment that the spilled blood of our people will not go unpunished and that war criminals should be prosecuted on all levels and in all international courts in order to get their punishment.
A presidential communiqué warned of resuming attacks against Gaza and pointed out the dangers encircling our people in Gaza through the continuous siege and the possibility of resuming aggression on the Gaza Strip. Simultaneously, the West Bank is invaded by Jewish settlements and by the tusk of bulldozers looting our land, pulling out trees, the hot pursuit, assassination and the intentional killing of patriots as was the case in Nablus yesterday.
