The new Israeli decision is a slap in the face of Joe Biden and the US special Envoy George Mitchell. President Abbas called the decision “dangerous which will undermine the proximity talks authorized by Arab League Follow up Committee”. The White House and Vice President Joe Biden condemned the new Israeli decision.
White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs said that the US condemns the Israeli decision undertaken by the Israeli Government on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 and said that neither timing nor the content of the decision were useful”.
Joe Biden who is in a visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories declared:”I condemn the Israeli Government’s decision to carry on its plan to build in East-Jerusalem”.
During his Meeting with PM Benyamin Netanyahu US Vice President Joe Biden reiterated US full commitment for the security of Israel by saying that “the basis of our relationship with Israel is the absolute, full and permanent commitment to the security of Israel”. Biden tried to ease Israeli doubts about the latest US peace efforts.
Biden rebuked the new plan as the kind of step that undermines the trust needed at this time. President Mahmoud Abbas called to Arab League to take the necessary measure to face the new Israeli drive to construct 1600 new housing units in East Jerusalem
