Born in 1938, Safad – Palestine.

Married and father of two sons and two daughters.

Education:

·         M.B.A.      University of Pennsylvania, USA, 1961

·         Ph.D.         Economics and Management Science, University of Pennsylvania, 1965

·         LL.D         Law (Honores Causa) University of Pennsylvania, 1998

Fateh Positions:

1971-               Member of the Revolutionary Council

1971-1989       Chairman: Fateh National Congress

1989-               Member of the Central Committee.

Reelected in August 2009

2009                Head of the Political Committee of the general Congress of Fateh,

and editor of its Political Program.

2009                Commissioner of International Relations of Fateh

2005-2006       Deputy Prime Minister, and Acting Prime Minister

1994-2006      Minster of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and Minister of Information.

1995-2006      Member, Higher Negotiation Committee, attending Wye River, Camp David, Taba, Annapolis and other major Negotiation Arenas.

1996-               Elected Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council.

1992-1995       PLO: Chief Palestinian Negotiator with Israel

1989-               Member, Palestine Central Council.

1970–1977      Director General of the Palestine Liberation Organization Planning Center in Beirut and Chairman Arafat’s political advisor. Later on became his chief foreign relations advisor.

1969-               Member, Palestine National Council and Head of the Political Committee

Non-Political Positions:

2005-                              Chairman of the Board of Trustees: Al-Azhar University, Gaza.

1975–1992      Founder and President of Team International: a professional management training and consulting organization, and the Arab Center for Administrative Development in Beirut and Cairo, which trained thousands of Arab managers, and young men and women.

1975-1992       Founder and Chairman: Dar El Fata Al Arabi, the Arab World’s only publishing house for children.

1969-1975                  Assistant Professor, then Dean of the Business School and Senator, American University of Beirut

1969-1976                  Assistant Professor,: National Institute of Management Development, and Visiting Professor: University of Alexandria and American University of Cairo

1961-1965       Instructor then lecturer: University of Pennsylvania
